BLingual, The Language Initiative is a creative consultancy pioneered by Arabic Calligraphy Muralist and Vinyl DJ, Benay L. Walker. A Washington D.C. native, Her initiative currently operates in the DMV area and exists to bridge the communal need for idea-sharing & strengthen language access through arts & curated music production. BLingual provides niche creative services in Arabic and other calligraphies through public art murals on buildings, woods & metals, glass etchings, and other commissioned mediums. Benay also goes under the Moniker, "...R WE ON THE AIR?!", as a Vinyl DJ & Sound Designer. She effortlessly blends genres like jazz-fusion/funk, hip-hop, world, and electronica so that all those experiencing her unique selections can respond to the musical elements. This initiative also improves artistic language access, audio access, and educational resources for partners, creatives, and minority students utilizing foreign languages in their projects both in the DMV area and internationally.

BLingual also maintains a network of technology, music, & foreign language professionals that seek justice for persons needing linguistic services in Spanish, Arabic, ASL/SSL, and Amharic/Tigrinya. You can listen to her live every Tuesday night on her Soul Conversations Radio Show on WPFW 89.3 FM Washington 8-10pm EST.
